Vernissage BOARD #2 – der Vulkan bricht aus
Nachdem das leuchtende Schwefelgelb von BOARD #1 von Zürich-Altstetten aus langsam in die Stadt Zürich zu fliessen begann, bricht auf BOARD #2 der Lava-Mensch durch die Schwefelschicht. Noch frisst er Steine und Mineralien, gierig krümelt und schmatzt er dabei; doch sein Auge trieft bereits vor toxischen Gasen. Er ist der Hephaistos des 21. Jahrhunderts.
Das Künstler:innenkollektiv U5 zeigt auf BOARD ab Mitte September bis Mitte Dezember eine Arbeit, die zwischen Fakt und Fiktion oszilliert – und mit neuen Blicken auf uralte Naturgewalten spielt.
An der Vernissage liest Bettina Dyttrich aus ihrem unvollendeten Roman «Vulkan». Im Berner Seeland ist ein Vulkan ausgebrochen. Im wilden Aaredelta versteckt sich Ra, Heiler:in mit magischen Kräften. In einer utopischen Kommune entwickelt Ra neue Forschungsmethoden – und bringt sich damit in Gefahr. Die Lesung findet auf Deutsch statt.

Opening BOARD #2 – the volcano is erupting
From BOARD #1 the sulphury yellow slowly started flowing into the city from Zurich-Altstetten, and now, on BOARD #2, the lava-creature is breaking through the sulphur-crust. As of now it still eats stones and minerals, greedily munching and smacking away; while his eye is already dripping with toxic gases. He is the Hephaistos of the 21st century.
The artist collective U5 shows a new work on BOARD #2 from mid-september to mid-december that oscillates between fact and fiction – playing with new perspectives on ancient forces of nature.
Bettina Dyttrich will read from her unpublished novel «Vulkan» at the opening. In the region Seeland in the canton of Berne, a volcano has erupted. Ra, a healer with magical powers, hides in the wild delta of the Aare river. In a utopian community Ra starts to develop new scientific methods – endangering not only themself. The reading will be in German.
